Trevoh Chalobah Poised to Replace Marc Guehi in England Squad

Chelsea defender in action

Trevoh Chalobah emulated his brother Nathaniel in representing England, emerging as the 21st pair of brothers to earn caps for the national team.

The Chelsea defender is set to join up with the England squad to replace unavailable Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old footballer is due to link up with the squad for England's last World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Serbia, but it has yet to be officially announced.

The Three Lions have already qualified for next summer's World Cup.

Chalobah earned his maiden selection under England manager Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then made his debut against Senegal.

In September, Tuchel remarked Chalobah was unfortunate to be omitted from the squad for qualifying games against Andorra and Serbia, and also omitted him for the following October fixtures.

Tuchel has been an important presence in Chalobah's progress, having awarded him his Chelsea debut in 2021.

Chalobah has played in almost every matches for Chelsea in the current campaign, with the side in third place in the Premier League, in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals and in the league phase of the European competition.

Guehi picked up a foot injury in Crystal Palace's Conference League victory over the Dutch side in their last match.

There are set to be other call-ups to the squad. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has said that both attacker Anthony Gordon (hip) and shot-stopper Nick Pope (a concussion) will be unavailable from the squad.
